Flagship sinks while Turbine salvages

Lord Of The Rings Online developer, Turbine, has snapped up two of the floundering former bigwigs who worked at Flagship until they were made redundant in July. Dave Brevik and Jeff Lind, who headed development of Hellgate: London, join Turbine’s newly formed West Coast studio in Redwood City, California as chief creative officer and director of engineering, respectively. Turbine said that the new studio currently has no specific objectives other than playing a role in its ‘corporate vision’.

Warhammer Online Open Beta Date Announced

GOA, EA and Mythic Studios have announced that the open beta for Warhammer Online: Age OF Reckoning will begin on 7 September. Fans of the highly anticipated MMO will be able to enter the European open beta by pre-ordering WAR and going to the GOA account centre or visiting the EA Store to sign up for a limited number of spots. GOA also announced on the official forum that they have lifted the NDA for all players in the current closed beta phase of Warhammer Online. The game will be released nearly two weeks after the open beta commences, on 18 September.

StarGate Worlds Video Premiere

G4 has an exclusive video showing in-game footage of the hotly anticipated StarGate Worlds MMORPG. Despite ten seasons, a spin off series and of course the Blockbuster movie that started it all, there has yet to be a decent game based on the franchise. We wonder if this will buck the trend of mediocrity…
